We are Rachel and Chris, journalists in Washington, DC. We post about weird food and things we like! Scrapple Spring Rolls, for example, are a delicious foodstuff conceived not out of desperation but of ingenuity and a love of all sorts of food.

Chris on Chris: Hello. I’m all over the map. Mostly I take pictures, or think about taking pictures. I am writing this in the first person, accidentally, but it’s a little late now. I really like Rachel, and food. Long walks/beach/etc. too. Empathetic, believe it or not, almost too much. Prone to abandoning structure mid-stream (e.g. sentences). Pynchon, lots of it. Concretely: I am a photo editor and photojournalist at the Washington Post Express. I’m from Northern Virginia, loosely, except for a lucky streak in Minnesota.

Rachel on Chris: This guy blows my mind! I’m incredibly lucky to even know him, and now to be partnering with him on a blog (and going on dates to Kotobuki and Cafe Atlantico) just floors me. He puts up with my madness and OCD tendencies (no, the shoes have to be organized by HEIGHT, not color!) and cooks a mean…well, anything (but the meatier the better).

Rachel on Rachel: Rachel is a writer, proofreader/copyeditor, and blogger on any and all topics. Since finding happiness with Chris, she’s tried more exotic foods than she can remember, including tripe, chayote squash, okra (exotic to a born-and-bred Midwesterner, okay?!) and, of course, scrapple. She draws the line at head cheese. When not writing or talking about herself in the third person, she’s cooking, knitting, or jogging. (She blogs about words and writing at http://rkaufman.wordpress.com.)

Chris on Rachel: Rachel can write. She can really write. She can really, really write. She can also laugh and love and concoct and compel and deduce and contrast and remind you why you live life. I am blessed with her doing all of these things in my presence. You’ll enjoy hearing from her.

    You are brilliant.

Is it crass to comment on one’s own blog, unprompted?

Too bad, I’m doing it anyway.
